18 And he saith unto them, Are ye so without understanding also? Do ye not perceive, that whatsoever thing from without entereth into the man, it cannot defile him;
19 Because it entereth not into his heart, but into the belly, and goeth out into the draught, purging all meats?
20 And he said, That which cometh out of the man, that defileth the man.
21 For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders,
22 Thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lasciviousness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness:
23 All these evil things come from within and defile man.

MFM Devotional MESSAGE:
Having treated so much about the heart of man in the last discourse, let us see how we can discipline our hearts and make it right with God.
God will enable us to do this, but it all starts with you and me. Take an inward look. What is in your heart? Is it filled with ungodly thoughts, negative imaginations, unhealthy cravings and desire and all such things that defile? The Spirit of God cannot dwell in such a place. Samson entertained immorality and he didn’t know that the power of God, the Holy Spirit, had left him.

Paul wrote, Can we continue in sin that grace should abound? God forbid”. This goes to confirm that God abhors sin and anything that defiles. The heart, as earlier stated is the source and power room for all of our feelings, thoughts, emotions and actions. Hence, it must be well guided and guarded.
Is your heart set on things above or things below? Where a man’s treasure is, there you will find his heart (Colossians.3:1-2). If you’re for Christ, your heart would be set on the things of God. The world and its vanities will pass away but those who love the Lord and do His will shall live (1 John 2:15-17).
A depraved heart and a sinful heart, if surrendered unto God, will experience the mercy of God that brings salvation. God will give you a new heart! Get ready to cry in repentance as David did in Psalm 51:10. “Create in me a new heart…” God is still in the business of creating new hearts and renewing the right spirit in those who are willing to cry to Him and receive the change!
Continue in fervent prayers to flush out the evil presence in your heart; read and meditate on the Word of God constantly, and let it dwell richly in you. Prayerfully guard your mind against every satanic counterattack. Resist the devil and he will flee from you. Draw closer to God and He will be there for you (James 4:7-8).
PRAYER POINTS:
MORNING
- O Lord, create in me a new heart, in the name of Jesus.
- O Lord, renew the right Spirit in me, in the name of Jesus.
- Father Lord, do not take Your Holy Spirit from me, in the name of Jesus.
EVENING
- Grace and power to love God with all my heart, come upon me now, in the name of Jesus
- Anything contending with the love of God in my heart, give way, in the name of Jesus
- Holy Ghost, kill every idol in my heart and bring into captivity every strange thought, in the name of Jesus.
- Lord Jesus, make me a living sanctuary for You!
Salvation Prayer: To experience the love and the many folds of God’s blessing there’s a need to be part of him by being born again. If you are ready to be part of this noble family kindly pray this prayer with me:
Lord Jesus, I believe you are the son of God who paid the price for my sins on the cross of Calvary, I believe you are risen and defeated in death. I repent from everything that’s dishonoring to your name, I receive you as my lord and personal saviour and I come into eternal life. Amen. Thank you, Lord, for saving me.
